As you may know the Town of Snowmass Village has been requiring masks and enforcing passenger limits since the Spring of 2020. On January 21st President Biden signed Executive Order 13998 and as a result the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a public health order requirement for face masks to be worn by all travelers while on public transportation (which includes all passengers and all personnel operating conveyances). These orders make mask requirements federal law enforceable by the Transportation Security Agency (TSA).
Passengers are required to wear appropriate masks that completely cover both their mouths and noses while awaiting, boarding, disembarking, or traveling on all public transportation into, within, or out of the United States. People must also wear masks while at transportation hubs and all other locations where people board public transportation in the United States. Not wearing a mask can result in denial of boarding or removal from the transit vehicle. Persons refusing to wear a mask when standing at a transportation hub, boarding, riding, or disembarking a public conveyance are subject to federal penalties.
Under this order, effective 11:59 pm on February 1st, 2021, Snowmass Village Shuttle must make our best effort to ensure that all passengers wear a mask when boarding, disembarking, and for the duration of their trip. This order also applies to all persons waiting at Village Shuttle or RFTA terminals or bus stops.
Under this order, actions that must be taken by Snowmass Village Shuttle include:
The following are attributes of masks needed to fulfill the requirements of the Order. CDC will update this guidance as needed.
The following attributes are additionally acceptable as long as masks meet the requirements above.
The following DO NOT fulfill the requirements of the Order.
The Town of Snowmass Village asks you to help us with adhering to this Federal Law and appreciates your ongoing cooperation in keeping our Village safe during this pandemic. Additional guidance on the use of masks to slow the spread of COVID-19 is available on CDC’s website.
